"My wife and I had a very enjoyable sail for several hours with Barry in the Carrick Roads between Loe Beech and Mylor. We were both complete novices and my wife was very nervous of a stiff breeze and on a 14ft boat. This apprehension evaporated because of the experience, calmness and proffessional expertise of Barry. The photograph shows how relaxed my wife became! We also had the good fortune to catch a Pollock!."

"Pauline and I would like to say a big thank you for a wonderful event. John really enjoyed sailing Uhuru and Pauline enjoyed her morning trip. You really pulled out all the stops to make the day pleasurable and combat the weather.
We will certainly recommend and use you again. As a service provider you were very accommodating and in our view went out of your way to ensure we had a good time.
The boat was superb and managed the gusting winds well – Very Stable."

"The time spent sailing with Barry Wheelock gave me the key skills and confidence to then be able to enjoy sailing on my own safely and responsibly. I would recommend him as a patient and thorough teacher."

"Until I met Barry over a pint at Pandora’s Inn, I really thought you had to be a skilled and knowledgeable sailor in order to actually sail, especially as I had just turned 60. So when he said '' come on I’ll show you now'', I thought why not. Within 15 minutes we were walking down the jetty, Barry was handing me a life jacket and we jumped into his beautiful wood varnished dinghy. It was a sunny breezy afternoon and with Barry at the helm we were soon skimming across the bay and the sensation of speed was amazing.
When we turned round to come back Barry said ''now it’s your turn to sail''. After showing me exactly where to sit and hold the rope and rudder we set off. It was like driving a racing car. Very stimulating. Barry taught me so many simple points like where to steer to by focusing on a land point etc. I was astonished how easy it was to pick up the wind. After four daily sessions I was able to sail on my own. It was great to have such a jovial and expert coach. Cannot wait to go back when the weather gets a bit warmer!
Thank you, Barry, for giving me such an exciting new hobby and a great way to have a holiday with a difference."

"Wow! What fun it was, lovely sunny day, whizzing along, even saw a beautiful seal only feet away. I knew how to sail a bit but having Barry with me helped me regain my confidence. We landed on a beach and sunbathed for an hour or so while having a glass of wine (several!) and some lunch."

"Despite inclement weather, Barry provided my 12 and 9-year old sons, as well as me, with a wonderful introduction to the pleasures of his delightful wooden sailing boat as well as the lovely Cornish coast. Barry’s support and encouragement for the boys has led to a real interest in learning to sail by the elder one and I'm quite keen to follow up myself. All in all, we had a fascinating, fun, inspirational and thoroughly enjoyable time. Recommended."

Just wanted to drop you a note of thanks to say how much William and I enjoyed our two hours sailing experience with you on Sunday afternoon. He and I thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent with you.
Your enthusiasm for the water; the area and wooden boats is contagious and I applaud your ability to pass your passion on.
We are now back in deepest Hampshire, miles from any water desperately trying to establish where we can find our nearest wooden sailing boat to get into again!
I thoroughly enjoyed your company and if were are lucky enough to be back down in the Fal area in the near future I assure you that you will be given another opportunity to test William’s knowledge of Henry V111.
Thank you very much once again for a very memorable afternoon.
Regards, Richard

After my first week back at work, this is just a quick email to thank you for the excellent time that Dan and I had on your boat last week.
It is was very refreshing to meet you as you helped remove some of my fears about sailing in such a relaxed and friendly manner.
I’ve discovered a small inland lake in nearby Congleton – about 10 mins drive, which runs RYA dinghy courses , so hopefully by the time we visit you next year, I’ll be able to hire one of your boats – with your full confidence! Who knows, I may even be able to afford to buy one if I save up my pennies!
Many thanks once again for a wonderful time – we cannot wait to get back to Roseland!

Sandy and I have arrived home in Worcestershire and have nearly sorted everything out from our holiday on the Roseland Peninsula. The two highlight sessions in 'Uhuru' and 'Windrush' were just what the doctor ordered and I am keen to do some more sailing in my own dinghy, a Miracle.
I must say that I enjoyed those two sessions enormously; the weather was ideal for some fine sailing, the boats handled delightfully and you were the perfect host and sailing companion. The boats themselves, beautifully crafted in wood, lived up to the billing. They felt safe and stable, and even though we were reefed, there was ample canvas to keep us going at a more than leisurely pace.
One never knows what sort of character one is to meet on such a venture as this, but you made everything pleasurable and instructive and even seemed to be having a high old time of it yourself. You clearly felt an attachment to your boats and enjoyed them being sailed with sensitivity. I can easily understand why. Thank you for your contribution to a very enjoyable experience.
